    What is the NDIS?

The NDIS is a government-funded scheme that provides support for Australians under the age of 65 who have a permanent and significant disability. It helps participants achieve their goals, whether that’s greater independence, community involvement, education, or health and wellbeing.

Who is eligible for the NDIS?

You may be eligible if you:

    • Are under 65 years old when you apply.
    • Are an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or have a Protected Special Category Visa.
    • Have a permanent disability that significantly impacts your daily life.

If you’re unsure, the NDIS website has an Access Checklist you can use to get an idea.

How do I apply for the NDIS?

You need to do the following before applying for the NDIS:

    1. Check your eligibility

Review the eligibility criteria on the NDIS website or speak to a health professional who can guide you.

    2. Request access

    Apply by:

    • Calling 1800 800 110 for a verbal access request.
    • Filling out an Access Request Form (available on the NDIS website or via phone).
    • Contacting us. We shall help you throughout the process.

    3. Provide supporting information

You’ll need to provide evidence of your disability and how it impacts your daily life. This can include reports from your GP, specialists, or therapists.

Tip: Detailed evidence makes the process smoother.

    4. NDIS decision

The NDIS will review your application and let you know the outcome. If approved, you’ll have a planning meeting to create your NDIS plan. If not approved, you can request a review.

    What happens after you’re approved?

You’ll meet with a planner or Local Area Coordinator (LAC) to discuss:

    • Your goals.
    • Supports you need.
    • How you want to manage your funding.
